Our Journey
Our journey began in 2022 when Rivtra, then known as TL River Transport, was conceptualized as part of a contest organized under the North East Entrepreneurship Development Program (NEEDP) by the esteemed IIM Calcutta Innovation Park (IIM-CIP). Out of 270 startups in the pre-incubation stage, we stood tall as a selected participant. This initial recognition fueled our drive to reshape the landscape of cargo transportation.
Rivtra is dedicated to the transport of goods through inland waterways. Its objective is to provide a medium through which customers can easily do online booking, real time tracking and get status updates of their cargo. Rivtra is the brand name of TL River Transport – an Indian startup selected in the NEEDP (North East Entrepreneurship Development Program) of IIM Calcutta Innovation Park. It’s business is dedicated to cargo transportation through Inland Waterways of India.

Objective
Rivtra® is dedicated to the transport of goods through inland waterways. Its objective is to provide a medium through which customers can easily do online booking, real time tracking and get status updates of their cargo through SMS etc. while transporting their cargo through inland waterways. Rivtra aims to establish inland waterways as an alternative and cost effective mode of transportation by aligning itself with Government of India’s initiatives to popularise the usage of inland waterways.
Accreditation
Rivtra® was conceptualised in 2022 as TL River Transport for a contest organised under North East Entrepreneurship Development Program (NEEDP) by IIM Calcutta Innovation Park (IIM-CIP), which is funded by North East Council (NEC). As part of the contest 270 Start Ups were selected for support and guidance by IIM-CIP to develop as a business. TL River Transport was one among the 270 startups in the pre-incubation stage.

Biswajit Saikia
Founder
Biswajit Saikia is a visionary entrepreneur with 17+ years of industry experience in domains such as Supply Chain Management, Strategy Planning & Marketing. Rivtra is his brainchild with an aim to bring efficiency to the logistics sector. He is keen on Logistics Planning, Facility Tie ups, Liasioning etc. He is a Mechanical Engineer from NIT, Jalandhar, an alumni of Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Delhi and a Law Gradutae from CCSU, Meerut.
Rajesh Chakrabarty
Business Head
Mr. Rajesh Chakrabarty is the Business Head of Rivtra and will be leading the Marketing & Channel Development among others. He is a Master Black Belt in Business Excellence & Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma with 28+ years of experience in Business Development & Business Operations excellence across various fields like Supply Chain Management, Retail, Marketing Operations and BPO. He affirms that his approach is that of an entrepreneur, with actions of a project incharge and passion of a coach.
Abhijit Barman
Technical & Operations Head
Mr. Abhijit Barman is the Technical & Operations Head of Rivtra. He is a Mechanical Engineer from NERIST. In his 23 years of career, he is having more than 12 years of work experience as Chief Engineer in various reputed Shipping Companies. He is into management of all machineries on board a ship, training & handling care of crews, follow & implement the rules and regulations, related to Maritime.
Meghna Saikia
Legal Head
Ms. Meghna Saikia is the Legal Head of Rivtra and will be leading the compliances and implementation of International & National Maritime Laws. She’s having more than 10+ years of experience in the legal domain and has worked in Guwahati High Court & Supreme Court of India
Bireshwar Mukherjee
Advisor
Mr. Bireshwar Mukherjee has had an illustrious career in the Public Works Department (PWD) of Assam. He has pioneered in many a ground breaking practical applications during his tenure in PWD. Rivtra is honoured to have him as our advisor to policy implementation and adherence to our objectives.
